On July 3, the U.S. Embassy Commercial and Economic Officer, David Morrison, met with AmCham and a group from LCOGRE (Libyan Council for Oil, Gas and Renewable Energies). LCOGRE represents many of the key companies involved in the Libyan energy sector, and its members participated actively in the OTC (Offshore Technology Conference) and RE+ renewable energies conference that AmCham sent delegations to.

On April 23, the U.S. Embassy Commercial and Economic Officer, David Morrison, met with a group of companies from the HB Group. HB Group is active in almost all sectors within Libya and is the country's largest private employer. Some of the HB Group companies are AmCham Libya members. Given their scope of activities, they were able to provide valuable insight into commercial activities in Libya and suggestions on how to increase the engagement of U.S. companies.

Briefing on the USAID LEAP project in southern Libya

AmCham Libya was pleased to host an online discussion with key members from the USAID-funded Libya Economic Acceleration Project (LEAP) in southern Libya. LEAP, funded by USAID, the U.S. Government international development agency, implemented by Chemonics International, supports private businesses within historically marginalized communities. LEAP partners with local businesses and municipalities across the south of Libya to create economic opportunities, ultimately improving living conditions and laying the grounds for locally driven peace and reconciliation efforts. AmCham briefing on the Novick Cardiac Alliance’s 12 years of performing pediatric cardiac surgeries in Libya

AmCham Libya was pleased to host a briefing on the Novick Cardiac Alliance's (NCA)12 years of performing pediatric cardiac surgeries in Libya. NCA, based in Memphis, Tennessee, has been performing pediatric cardiac surgeries in Libya since 2012. The team has made 37 trips to Libya, including Benghazi, Tobruk, Tripoli and Misrata. A total of 1,197 children have been treated, and there are 1500 on the waiting list. Dr. Novick talked about the life-saving work that had been done and their plan so that in 2 years many of these surgeries can be conducted without the support of NCA.
