AmCham Libya was pleased to host a briefing from U.S. Special Envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Norland. Ambassador Norland shared his thoughts on the evolving political process in Libya and prospects for improving the business climate for U.S. investment as well as U.S. support for the Storm Daniel disaster relief response. AmCham Libya was pleased to host a briefing from SLB, the world's largest offshore drilling company. SLB has recently signed a first of its kind turnkey contract to support NWD (National Oil Well Drilling and Workover Company) to drill three wells in the Murzuq Basin. This contract is an important element in NOC's strategic plan to increase oil production, as well as an example of NOC's commitment to work with multinationals. AmCham Libya met with NCDC (National Center of Disease Control) to discuss their upcoming participation in the 2023 Public Health Emergency Management Fellowship (PHEM), which will be held at the U.S. CDC in Atlanta, Georgia from 28 August to 17 November. The PHEM fellowship aims to build public health emergency management capacity among members of the international public health community who work in preparedness and response.
